Dune hd. Great video. It reminds me of the epic scale of the Dune universe. There must be thousands of planets with thousands of years of history scattered in the known universe for humanity to have forgotten where their race came form. Google taxi. Google trax game. Seems to me that Earth must've been purposfully erased from history for one reason or another. It makes no sense why the origin of humanity wouldn't be one of the first things people learn about, even so far in the future. Even after that time, one would think it would still be the most important planet in the universe for humans. The fact that it got destroyed/made inhabitable makes sense perfect sense, like the video said nuclear war / natural disaster / pollution could make that happen. But the knowledge being gone? Has to be something more behind that than simply 'it's been a long time ago.
I just came back from exploring the future millions of years into it. using Doctor Dooms time machine. trust me, man survives. that is all. First read dune in 1986. have read it at least a dozen times since. god emperor and chapterhouse are also great to read a second or tenth time. looking forward to the upcoming movie. hopefully it doesn't have the same flaws as the first.
Why was this version never released. This is the movie that should have been. I might throw away the crap DVD I have with the watered down bullshit that was edited and distributed. When you realise that God emperor is a retelling of the Bhagavad-Gita...

This film's only redeeming quality is the original score by Toto. The music, at least some of it, is appropriately celestial, ethereal, almost subliminal in its orchestration. That said, the film's other elements are awful.
The plot is an incoherent mess. I had no idea what was going on. After the first thirty minutes, I really didn't care what was going on. Character and place names confuse and irritate; they are like something from out of a witch's dictionary. The characters are uninteresting, and I could not identify with any of them. They have no sense of humor, and always seem to be in a bad mood. (Whatever happened to antidepressants. The dialogue is heavy duty, melodramatic mumbo jumbo. The voice-over technique is overused, and is therefore irritating. The casting is poor. Kyle MacLachlan is not convincing in the role he plays, because he lacks charisma. The worms have no personality. The special effects are mediocre at best. And the film is full of cheap cinematic gimmicks, like blue eyeballs, futuristic techno-gadgets, and a floating fat man.
It is a dreadfully pretentious and ponderous film that takes itself way too seriously. Even Ed Wood's "Plan 9 From Outer Space" has some entertainment value, derived from its technical crudeness. But, apart from portions of the soundtrack, Dune" has no entertainment value of any kind. The film is cold and clammy. It has all the charm of a dead fish.
Stewart is quite the story teller. Google trax. Duke nukem forever. Just watched this for the first time. i can think of at least 7 films that have ripped off huge parts of this. incredible. Dunelm blinds. It's cleaned up so well too! Nice work! I've never seen such a clear version of this film! Good work.
Thanks to the original Poster of this video! This is one of my favourite vids, reminds me of my childhood growing up and continues to be one of the best films made imo. Especially when you consider when it was made! Fanrastic stuff. Dunedin florida. Dune theme.
